Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Indiana?
Indiana's largest healthcare employers with documented OPT and STEM OPT hiring include Indiana University Health, Ascension St. Vincent, Franciscan Health, Community Health Network, and Parkview Health in Fort Wayne. Pharmaceutical and life sciences firms such as Eli Lilly and Cook Medical also hire STEM OPT candidates in health-adjacent technical roles. Sponsorship practices vary by role and department, so confirming OPT authorization acceptance during the application process is advisable.
Which cities in Indiana have the most healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the largest share of healthcare STEM OPT opportunities in Indiana, driven by its concentration of hospital systems, the IU School of Medicine, and Eli Lilly's headquarters. Fort Wayne is the second-largest market, with Parkview Health and Lutheran Health Network active in technical and clinical roles. Bloomington and South Bend also have noteworthy activity tied to regional hospital networks and life sciences employers.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT must fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code tied to the student's degree. In healthcare, this commonly includes health informatics analysts, biomedical engineers, clinical data scientists, bioinformatics specialists, and healthcare IT systems analysts. Roles classified as direct patient care, such as nursing or medical assisting, typically do not qualify for STEM OPT because those degree programs are not STEM-designated under SEVP guidelines.
How do I find healthcare F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters healthcare job listings in Indiana by visa type, letting you search specifically for employers with F-1 STEM OPT authorization histories. This saves significant time compared to filtering general job boards manually. Focus your search on health informatics, biomedical engineering, and clinical analytics roles in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, where STEM OPT hiring in healthcare is most active. Confirming your degree's STEM CIP code with your DSO before applying is an important preliminary step.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in healthcare?
Indiana's healthcare sector has a strong life sciences component, with Eli Lilly and a network of medical device manufacturers creating STEM OPT pathways outside traditional hospital settings. The Indiana Biosciences Research Institute in Indianapolis also draws STEM OPT candidates in research-oriented roles. Employers in Indiana are required to be enrolled in E-Verify to hire STEM OPT employees, and they must submit a formal training plan to SEVP through the I-983 form before employment begins.
