Which insurance companies in Indiana are known to sponsor F-1 STEM OPT workers?
Indiana's largest insurance employers, including OneAmerica Financial Partners, Tokio Marine HCC, and CNO Financial Group in Carmel, have histories of sponsoring international candidates in quantitative and analytical roles. National carriers with significant Indiana operations, such as Anthem (now Elevance Health) and Chubb, also file STEM OPT-eligible positions. Sponsorship patterns vary by role and year, so reviewing each employer's actual filing history is the most reliable indicator.
Which cities in Indiana have the most insurance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis concentrates the vast majority of Indiana's insurance sponsorship activity, anchored by corporate headquarters and regional operations centers on the north side of the city and in adjacent Carmel and Fishers. Fort Wayne, home to regional carriers and independent agencies, offers a secondary market. Bloomington has a smaller footprint tied to university-affiliated research roles in actuarial and risk analytics connected to Indiana University.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify generally require quantitative or analytical degrees and include actuarial analyst, data scientist, predictive modeling analyst, underwriting analyst, catastrophe risk modeler, and statistical analyst positions. These map to STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs codes in fields like statistics, mathematics, computer science, and applied mathematics. General agent, claims adjuster, and pure sales roles rarely qualify because they typically do not require a STEM degree as a baseline credential.
How do I find insurance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for insurance employers in Indiana that have filed for F-1 STEM OPT workers, showing verified sponsorship history by role type and location. This is more targeted than general job searching because it surfaces companies with an actual track record of sponsoring international candidates in actuarial, data, and analytics roles, rather than listings where sponsorship intent is unconfirmed.
Are there any Indiana-specific or insurance-industry considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Indiana does not impose state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal rules, but insurance employers in the state must comply with Indiana Department of Insurance licensing for certain roles, which can complicate F-1 OPT timelines if a license takes longer to obtain than the OPT authorization window allows. Employers filing STEM OPT extensions must be enrolled in E-Verify, and candidates should confirm this with prospective employers before accepting offers at smaller regional carriers or managing general agents.
