Which insurance companies in Colorado sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Denver-based operations of national carriers such as Travelers, Nationwide, and Liberty Mutual have filed Labor Condition Applications for roles in actuarial science, data analytics, and risk engineering. Colorado also hosts several insurtech firms and third-party administrators that hire STEM OPT candidates. Sponsorship patterns vary by employer and role, so verifying each company's actual LCA filing history before applying is important.
Which cities in Colorado have the most insurance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of insurance STEM OPT opportunities in Colorado, supported by the city's concentration of regional carrier offices, insurtech startups, and financial services firms. Englewood and Greenwood Village, both within the Denver metro, also host insurance company headquarters and analytics centers. Colorado Springs has a smaller but active property and casualty insurance employment base worth monitoring.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify tend to require a STEM-designated degree and involve quantitative or technical work. Common qualifying positions include actuarial analyst, data scientist, predictive modeler, risk analyst, catastrophe analyst, and insurance pricing analyst. These roles align with degree fields such as actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, and computer science. Positions classified under Standard Occupational Classification codes recognized by USCIS as STEM-eligible are the relevant benchmark.
How do I find insurance F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate filters insurance job listings in Colorado specifically for employers with verified F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, drawing on DOL Labor Condition Application data. You can search by role type, city, and employer to identify carriers and insurtechs that have actively sponsored STEM OPT candidates. This is more reliable than searching general job boards, where sponsorship availability is often unclear or unverified.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in insurance?
Colorado requires employers to participate in E-Verify as a condition of doing business with the state government, which means many larger insurance employers in the state already have E-Verify accounts, a requirement for STEM OPT sponsorship. Colorado's insurance market also includes a notable reinsurance and catastrophe modeling segment tied to wildfire and natural hazard risk, creating demand for STEM graduates with geographic information systems or statistical modeling backgrounds.
