Which companies sponsor visas for program assistants in Indiana?
Indiana's most active visa sponsors for program assistant roles include Indiana University Health, Purdue University, Indiana University, Eli Lilly, and Salesforce's Indianapolis operations. Large healthcare systems and research universities tend to sponsor most consistently because they have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure for immigration filings. Nonprofit organizations tied to federal funding also sponsor at meaningful rates, particularly in Indianapolis.
Which visa types are most common for program assistant roles in Indiana?
H-1B visa is the most common visa for program assistant roles where the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as public health, social work, or education administration. OPT and STEM OPT are frequently used by recent graduates already in Indiana on student visas. Some university-affiliated roles qualify for J-1 visa exchange visitor status, particularly in research or training contexts.
Which cities in Indiana have the most program assistant sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the largest share of program assistant sponsorship opportunities in Indiana, driven by its concentration of healthcare systems, nonprofits, and corporate headquarters. Bloomington and West Lafayette follow, anchored by Indiana University and Purdue University respectively, both of which regularly hire international candidates for program support roles across academic departments and research centers. Fort Wayne has a smaller but growing presence.
How to find program assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search program assistant roles in Indiana without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. Because program assistant is a broad title, searching variations like program coordinator or program specialist on Migrate Mate can expand your results. Filtering by employer type, such as university or healthcare, narrows results to sectors with stronger sponsorship track records in Indiana.
Are there state-specific considerations for program assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B program assistant roles are set by the Department of Labor and vary by metro area. Indianapolis and the Bloomington-West Lafayette corridor tend to have higher prevailing wages than rural counties, which affects what employers must offer sponsored employees. Indiana's large research university system also creates a notable pipeline from student OPT status into sponsored full-time program assistant positions, particularly in administrative and grant-funded roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program assistant jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
