Search Program Assistant Jobs in NebraskaProgram Assistant Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for program assistants in Nebraska?
The University of Nebraska system, including its Lincoln and Omaha campuses, is among the most active sponsors of program assistant roles in the state. Other notable employers include Boys Town, CHI Health, Nebraska Medicine, and various state government agencies. Nonprofit organizations tied to education, public health, and community development also sponsor internationally, particularly for roles requiring specialized program coordination skills.
Which visa types are most common for program assistant roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program assistants in Nebraska when the role requires a relevant bachelor's degree, such as public administration, social work, or education. Universities and research institutions may also sponsor J-1 visas for exchange-based program roles. Some positions at nonprofits qualify under H-1B cap-exempt status if the organization is affiliated with a qualifying institution of higher education.
How to find program assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find program assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska. The platform filters job listings specifically by sponsorship availability, so you can browse roles at Nebraska employers without sorting through positions that don't offer visa support. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces relevant openings at universities, healthcare systems, and nonprofits across Lincoln and Omaha.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most program assistant sponsorship jobs?
Lincoln and Omaha account for the majority of program assistant sponsorship opportunities in Nebraska. Lincoln's concentration of state government offices and the University of Nebraska flagship campus drives consistent demand. Omaha offers additional volume through its healthcare sector, including Nebraska Medicine and CHI Health, as well as a growing nonprofit community. Smaller cities like Kearney have limited but occasional openings tied to regional campuses.
Are there any state-specific considerations for program assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska's program assistant roles are heavily concentrated in the public and nonprofit sectors, which shapes the sponsorship environment. Cap-exempt H-1B eligibility is relevant here because many positions are housed within universities or nonprofit affiliates of educational institutions. Employers in these sectors must still meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Lincoln or Omaha metropolitan areas, which are benchmarked to local market rates for program coordination roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program assistant jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
