Which companies sponsor visas for director of project management roles in Iowa?
Principal Financial Group, Collins Aerospace, Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnityPoint Health are among Iowa employers that have filed sponsorship petitions for senior project leadership roles. Technology and engineering firms operating in the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids corridors also sponsor at the director level, particularly where candidates bring specialized credentials in enterprise program management or large-scale infrastructure delivery.
Which visa types are most common for director of project management roles in Iowa?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for director of project management positions in Iowa, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a related field such as engineering, business, or information systems. Candidates with extraordinary achievement in program leadership may also qualify for an O-1A. Multinational managers transferring from a parent or affiliate company abroad may be eligible for the L-1A.
Which cities in Iowa have the most director of project management sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the largest share of director-level project management sponsorship activity in Iowa, driven by its concentration of insurance, financial services, and healthcare employers. Cedar Rapids follows, with manufacturing and technology firms including Collins Aerospace and Transamerica operations present there. How to find director of project management visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?

You can filter directly by state and job title to surface director of project management positions in Iowa posted by employers with a demonstrated sponsorship history. This removes the manual work of screening job listings and helps you focus on roles where the employer is already open to supporting an H-1B or other work visa.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for director of project management visa sponsorship?
Iowa employers sponsoring H-1B workers at the director of project management level must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, or Iowa City metropolitan areas, which are calculated based on local wage surveys for the specific occupation and experience level. Iowa's lower cost of doing business relative to coastal markets can make it attractive for employers absorbing sponsorship costs, though candidates should confirm each employer's internal sponsorship policies before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored director of project management jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
