Which visa types are most common for director of project management roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for director of project management positions in Iowa, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a related field such as engineering, business, or information systems. Multinational managers transferring from a parent or affiliate company abroad may be eligible for the L-1A.

Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for director of project management visa sponsorship?
Iowa employers sponsoring H-1B workers at the director of project management level must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, or Iowa City metropolitan areas, which are calculated based on local wage surveys for the specific occupation and experience level. Iowa's lower cost of doing business relative to coastal markets can make it attractive for employers absorbing sponsorship costs, though candidates should confirm each employer's internal sponsorship policies before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored director of project management jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
