Which companies sponsor visas for automation roles in Kansas?
Wichita-based Textron Aviation and Spirit AeroSystems are among the larger employers that have sponsored visa petitions for engineering and automation roles. Koch Industries affiliates, Cargill processing facilities, and manufacturing operations tied to the automotive and aerospace supply chain in the Kansas City metro area also appear in H-1B visa disclosure data for controls and automation engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for automation roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for automation engineers and controls specialists in Kansas, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering. Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations may also be eligible for TN visa status, which does not require a lottery and can be processed at the border.
Which cities in Kansas have the most automation sponsorship jobs?
Wichita is the leading market for automation sponsorship jobs in Kansas, driven by its aerospace and advanced manufacturing base. Kansas City (KS) is the second-largest concentration, particularly for food processing automation and industrial controls. Smaller pockets of automation hiring exist near Hutchinson and Salina, where agricultural processing and manufacturing facilities operate.
How to find automation visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search automation roles in Kansas without sifting through positions that do not sponsor. The platform surfaces roles from manufacturers, aerospace firms, and engineering companies in Wichita and the Kansas City metro that have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B and other work visas for automation and controls engineers.
Are there any state-specific considerations for automation professionals seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not have state-level work visa programs, so federal sponsorship pathways apply. Automation roles in Kansas often align with the aerospace and agricultural processing industries, which can affect prevailing wage determinations under the H-1B Labor Condition Application process. Wichita State University and Kansas State University both produce engineering graduates who feed regional employer pipelines, which means competition for sponsorship-eligible roles can come from both domestic and international applicants.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored automation jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
