Which electronics companies sponsor visas in Kansas?
Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita leads electronics visa sponsorship for avionics and flight systems engineers. Garmin in Olathe sponsors positions in GPS technology and navigation electronics. Textron Aviation sponsors embedded systems and aerospace electronics roles. Kansas City area companies like Burns & McDonnell also sponsor electrical and electronics engineering positions. These companies typically file H-1B petitions for specialized electronics talent.
Which visa types are most common for electronics roles in Kansas?
H-1B visas dominate electronics sponsorship in Kansas, particularly for hardware engineers, firmware developers, and RF engineers. O-1 visas occasionally appear for senior electronics professionals with exceptional achievements in aerospace or telecommunications. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican electronics engineers, while E-3 visas benefit Australian electronics professionals. The specialty occupation requirement aligns well with electronics engineering roles requiring specific technical degrees.
How to find electronics visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate specializes in electronics visa sponsorship opportunities across Kansas, filtering positions by visa type and location. Focus on Wichita's aerospace electronics sector and the Kansas City metropolitan area's technology companies. Target companies with established H-1B filing histories in electronics engineering, embedded systems, and telecommunications. Research university partnerships with Kansas State and University of Kansas engineering programs for entry-level sponsored positions.
Which cities in Kansas have the most electronics sponsorship jobs?
Wichita dominates electronics visa sponsorship due to its aerospace manufacturing concentration, with companies like Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation. The Kansas City metropolitan area, including Olathe and Overland Park, offers electronics opportunities at Garmin and engineering consulting firms. Topeka provides some government contractor electronics positions. Salina and Hutchinson have smaller but growing electronics manufacturing sectors with occasional sponsorship opportunities.
Do Kansas electronics companies prefer candidates from specific universities?
Kansas electronics employers often recruit from Kansas State University and University of Kansas engineering programs, creating pathways from F-1 to H-1B status. Many also recruit from major engineering schools like Purdue, Texas A&M, and Colorado School of Mines. Companies value candidates with aerospace or telecommunications experience, particularly those familiar with FAA regulations and defense contractor requirements common in Kansas's electronics industry.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electronics jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
