Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor Green Card visas in Kansas?
Wichita-based employers are the primary source of Green Card sponsorship in Kansas aerospace and defense. Spirit AeroSystems, Textron Aviation, and Boeing have historically sponsored permanent residency for engineering and technical roles. Defense contractors with Kansas operations, including Garmin Aviation and L3Harris, also sponsor Green Cards for qualified candidates, though sponsorship decisions depend on the specific role, department, and business need at the time of hiring.
Which cities in Kansas have the most aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Wichita is by far the dominant city for aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs in Kansas, often called the Air Capital of the World due to its concentration of aircraft manufacturers and suppliers. Derby, Salina, and McConnell Air Force Base's surrounding communities also have defense-related employment. Outside Wichita, opportunities are limited, so most international candidates target the Wichita metro for aerospace sponsorship roles.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Kansas?
Roles that typically qualify for employer-sponsored Green Cards in Kansas aerospace and defense include aerospace engineers, mechanical and structural engineers, avionics systems engineers, quality assurance specialists, manufacturing engineers, and software engineers supporting flight systems. Positions requiring specialized degrees in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering are most commonly sponsored through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories, depending on the role's educational requirements and the employer's sponsorship process.
How do I find aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters aerospace and defense roles in Kansas by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card. Rather than manually reviewing hundreds of job postings to identify which employers sponsor permanent residency, Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsorship opportunities directly. This is especially useful in Kansas, where sponsorship is concentrated among a smaller set of major Wichita employers and identifying the right openings efficiently matters.
Are there any Kansas-specific or industry-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in aerospace and defense?
Kansas aerospace and defense roles often involve work on export-controlled programs subject to ITAR, which restricts certain positions to U.S. persons, meaning citizens, lawful permanent residents, and certain visa holders. Some roles may be open to Green Card applicants or those in the sponsorship process, while others require existing permanent residency or citizenship. Candidates should confirm the ITAR status of a specific role with the employer before assuming Green Card sponsorship is available for that position.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card aerospace & defense jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
