Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor Green Card visas in California?
California's largest aerospace and defense employers with established Green Card sponsorship programs include Northrop Grumman, Raytheon Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, SpaceX, and L3Harris. Smaller defense contractors and satellite companies also sponsor, particularly in the Los Angeles and San Diego corridors. Sponsorship practices vary by role, business unit, and the employee's current visa status, so direct confirmation with each employer's HR or immigration team is always necessary.
Which cities in California have the most aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs?
The Los Angeles Basin, including El Segundo, Redondo Beach, and Torrance, hosts the highest concentration of aerospace and defense employers in California. San Diego is a major center for defense electronics, naval systems, and cybersecurity contractors. The Inland Empire and Silicon Valley also have notable clusters, with companies like SpaceX in Hawthorne and Lockheed's advanced development facilities in Sunnyvale adding significant hiring volume.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in California?
Roles that regularly attract Green Card sponsorship in California's aerospace and defense sector include systems engineers, aerospace engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, software engineers supporting defense systems, propulsion specialists, and program managers with technical backgrounds. Research scientists in materials, optics, and avionics are also commonly sponsored. Most sponsored positions require at minimum a bachelor's degree in an engineering or hard-science discipline, and many require advanced degrees.
How do I find aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate lists aerospace and defense jobs in California where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship availability, filtering out roles that don't match. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing individual company career pages. Within Migrate Mate, you can filter specifically by the aerospace and defense category, Green Card visa type, and California as the location to see relevant open positions from contractors and space-sector employers actively sponsoring.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in California's aerospace and defense sector?
Many aerospace and defense positions in California require security clearances, which are only available to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. This creates a practical dynamic where employers may initiate Green Card sponsorship earlier in an employee's tenure to expand their access to classified programs. ITAR and EAR export control regulations also affect which foreign nationals can work on certain contracts, so it is worth clarifying a role's clearance and citizenship requirements before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card aerospace & defense jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
