Search Aerospace & Defense Jobs in VirginiaAerospace & Defense Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
Which aerospace and defense companies in Virginia sponsor Green Card visas?
Major Green Card sponsors in Virginia's aerospace and defense sector include Northrop Grumman, Leidos, Raytheon Technologies, Booz Allen Hamilton, General Dynamics, and BAE Systems. These contractors regularly file PERM labor certifications for engineers, systems analysts, and cybersecurity specialists supporting Department of Defense and intelligence community programs across Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads.
Which cities in Virginia have the most aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly Fairfax, Reston, Herndon, and McLean, concentrates the highest density of aerospace and defense Green Card roles due to its proximity to the Pentagon, NSA, and federal contracting offices. Hampton Roads, including Virginia Beach and Norfolk, also carries significant defense employment tied to Naval Station Norfolk and related aerospace supply chain operations.
How do I find aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters aerospace and defense jobs in Virginia by employers with verified Green Card sponsorship history, including PERM filings, so you're not guessing which contractors will actually sponsor. You can search by specific metro area, Northern Virginia, Hampton Roads, or the Richmond corridor, and filter for roles with active sponsorship records to focus your applications efficiently.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Virginia?
Roles qualifying for Green Card sponsorship in Virginia's defense sector most commonly include systems engineers, software engineers, electrical engineers, program analysts, cybersecurity engineers, radar and signals specialists, and aerospace engineers. Positions requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field and tied to defense contracts are well-suited to PERM-based sponsorship through the EB-2 or EB-3 categories.
Are there Virginia-specific or defense-industry considerations that affect Green Card sponsorship?
Security clearance requirements are a defining factor in Virginia's defense sector. Many roles at contractors supporting classified programs require a Secret or Top Secret clearance, which is generally not available to non-U.S. persons, meaning Green Card sponsorship typically applies to unclassified or lower-classification positions. Employers usually initiate PERM sponsorship after a worker has been in a role long enough to demonstrate sustained need, so timeline planning matters.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card aerospace & defense jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
