Shipping and Receiving Team Leader
The Shipping and Receiving Team Leader coordinates with the Material Handlers and other departments to meet production requirements of the company and needs of the customers, with accountability for results in terms of costs, methods, operations, and personnel.
This role will be on our 3rd Shift (10:45pm to 7:15am) Team and includes a $.40 shift differential.
What you will do for UGN:
- Walk through the materials department with the previous shift's team leader to address any issues or concerns.
- Ensure shift is fully staffed and overtime needs are covered with the approval of the Shipping Coordinator or Materials Manager.
- Check E-mail for special shipments and prepare paperwork; call in pre-approved carriers as required.
- Conduct a meeting with team members at the beginning of the shift to communicate problems or concerns; conduct exercise activities.
- Ensure the pre-start checklist on forklifts is performed daily and issues are communicated to the Shipping Coordinator.
- Verify any damages to dock doors, dock plates, or forklifts; obtain approval from the Shipping Coordinator for repairs before calling in a repair company.
- Audit training documentation to ensure all team members are trained in the latest procedures.
- Ensure all 5S tasks are performed.
- Perform weekly cycle counts as required.
- Repack service parts as required for shipment.
- Assist in training new team members and in cross-training current team members.
- Fill in for call-offs and standard crew size when needed.
- Load finished goods labels in cells 30 minutes before end of shift.
- Learn and assist in developing team members in all TPS principles.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Other duties may be assigned.
What you will bring to UGN:
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ months related experience in materials movement and management.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Team Members.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Knowledge of and experience with Internet software, Microsoft Office applications - Word and Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Valid, UGN-issued forklift license. Prior forklift certifications.
