A bit about us:
We are a full-service law firm built by attorneys who wanted a more thoughtful and flexible way to practice law. Our work spans a broad range of legal matters, and we approach each engagement with a focus on practical judgment, collaboration, and efficiency. We value clear thinking over rigid process and encourage lawyers to understand the broader context of a client’s goals. Our teams work closely across disciplines, allowing us to adapt as matters evolve. Internally, we operate with a collegial mindset, open communication, and respect for different perspectives, believing that strong relationships and sound judgment lead to better outcomes for both clients and colleagues.
Why join us?
We provide an environment where lawyers can develop meaningful practices without being confined to narrow roles or predetermined paths. Attorneys are trusted with responsibility early, work directly with experienced colleagues, and gain exposure to substantive matters and clients. We value initiative, curiosity, and practical problem-solving, and we support lawyers who want to shape their careers thoughtfully over time. Our culture is professional and grounded, with an emphasis on flexibility, balance, and long-term sustainability. Good ideas are welcomed regardless of seniority, and success is measured by quality of work, collaboration, and personal growth—not by adherence to tradition alone.
JOB DETAILS
We are seeking a litigation associate to join a well-established and growing litigation practice with a strong emphasis on employment-related disputes. This role offers hands-on involvement in all stages of litigation, along with meaningful client interaction and increasing responsibility over time. Associates are trusted with substantive work early and are encouraged to develop sound judgment, strong advocacy skills, and practical problem-solving abilities. While litigation is the primary focus, there is also an opportunity to participate in employment law advice and counseling consistent with experience level.
Responsibilities
- Handle employment-related litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other written advocacy materials
- Manage discovery, including document review, case organization, and strategy
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex legal issues
- Assist with hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation
- Work directly with clients and contribute to litigation strategy
- Support employment counseling and compliance matters as appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2–5 years of litigation experience, with employment litigation experience preferred
- Experience drafting pleadings and managing discovery processes
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned matters
REQUIREMENTS
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in at least one New England jurisdiction
- Admission in Maine or New Hampshire required; Massachusetts a plus
- Interest in developing a long-term litigation practice with employment law exposure

Which staffing companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Maine?
Staffing firms operating in Maine that have historically filed OPT-related paperwork tend to support professional services, healthcare staffing, and light industrial placement. National staffing brands with Maine offices, such as those placing workers across healthcare and administrative sectors in Portland and Bangor, are more likely to sponsor than small independent agencies. Checking a company's prior OPT or H-1B disclosure history with the Department of Labor is a practical way to verify sponsorship willingness.
Which cities in Maine have the most staffing F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Portland is Maine's primary hub for staffing F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs, driven by its concentration of professional services, healthcare systems like MaineHealth, and a growing tech sector. Augusta, as the state capital, offers administrative and government-adjacent staffing roles. Bangor is a secondary market with healthcare and light industrial staffing activity. Candidates outside these cities will find significantly fewer sponsoring employers.
What types of staffing roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles in staffing that commonly qualify for F-1 OPT include recruiting coordinator, talent acquisition specialist, HR operations associate, and workforce solutions consultant. These positions align with business, human resources, or management degree fields, which satisfies the requirement that OPT employment relate directly to your area of study. Purely administrative or clerical roles within a staffing firm are less likely to qualify unless the duties directly connect to your degree.
How do I find staffing F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Maine?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students on F-1 OPT seeking visa-friendly employers, and you can filter directly by state and industry to surface staffing roles in Maine. This saves significant time compared to manually screening general job boards where sponsorship status is rarely disclosed upfront. Look for roles in Portland and Augusta first, and prioritize companies with a verifiable history of supporting work authorization for international hires.
Are there any Maine-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in staffing?
Maine's staffing industry skews heavily toward healthcare, manufacturing, and seasonal hospitality sectors, which shapes what OPT-eligible roles are available. The state has fewer large employer headquarters than coastal metros, so many sponsoring staffing firms are regional offices of national companies rather than local independents. If you're on STEM OPT, your 24-month extension window gives you a meaningful advantage in a slower-moving hiring market like Maine's.
