Which companies sponsor visas for program supervisors in Maine?
Healthcare and social services organizations account for most program supervisor sponsorships in Maine. MaineHealth, Northern Light Health, Acadia Hospital, and behavioral health nonprofits like Spurwink and Catholic Charities Maine have histories of sponsoring qualified international candidates. State government agencies and federally funded community programs also hire program supervisors and may support H-1B visa or O-1 visa petitions for roles requiring a specialized degree.
Which visa types are most common for program supervisor roles in Maine?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program supervisors in Maine, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as social work, public health, or counseling. Some candidates in academic or research program settings may qualify for the O-1. Candidates from Canada may also explore the TN visa under the social worker or counselor category where applicable.
Which cities in Maine have the most program supervisor sponsorship jobs?
Portland is Maine's primary hiring hub for program supervisors, driven by its concentration of healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, and social service agencies. Bangor is the second-largest market, anchored by Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center and regional behavioral health providers. Augusta sees demand tied to state government and public health administration, while Lewiston and Auburn have growing human services sectors supporting additional openings.
How to find program supervisor visa sponsorship jobs in Maine?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find program supervisor roles in Maine without manually screening hundreds of postings. You can narrow results by location and role type to surface employers in Portland, Bangor, and Augusta that are actively hiring internationally. Because program supervisor positions in Maine are concentrated in healthcare and human services, searching those industry filters on Migrate Mate can sharpen your results further.
Are there state-specific considerations for program supervisors seeking visa sponsorship in Maine?
Maine's Department of Labor sets prevailing wage determinations that employers must meet when sponsoring H-1B program supervisors, based on the role's SOC code and the specific county where the job is located, which matters given the wage differences between Portland metro and rural Maine counties. Additionally, program supervisor roles in licensed behavioral health or social work settings may require state licensure, and employers will typically want confirmation that your credentials meet Maine's licensing standards before initiating sponsorship.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program supervisor jobs in Maine?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
