Which fintech companies sponsor visas in Maryland?
T. Rowe Price and Franklin Templeton (formerly Legg Mason) are Maryland's largest fintech visa sponsors, regularly filing H-1B visa petitions for technology and quantitative roles. SoFi has expanded operations in Baltimore, along with smaller companies like Zenbanx and various financial technology startups in the DC-Baltimore corridor that sponsor international talent.
How to find fintech visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for visa sponsorship fintech positions in Maryland. The platform filters jobs by sponsorship willingness and location, showing opportunities at established firms like T. Rowe Price as well as emerging fintech companies in Baltimore and the DC metro area that actively hire international candidates.
Which cities in Maryland have the most fintech sponsorship jobs?
Baltimore leads Maryland's fintech sponsorship market, hosting T. Rowe Price's headquarters and SoFi's operations center. Bethesda and Rockville in the DC metro area also offer significant opportunities, particularly with asset management firms and financial technology companies serving the federal government and defense contractors.
What visa types are most common for fintech roles in Maryland?
H-1B visas dominate Maryland fintech sponsorship, especially for software engineers, data scientists, and quantitative analysts. O-1 visas occasionally appear for senior fintech executives or specialized roles in algorithmic trading. L-1 visa transfers are common when international financial firms establish Maryland operations.
Are there specific fintech industry advantages in Maryland for visa holders?
Maryland's proximity to Washington DC creates unique opportunities in regulatory technology and government financial services. The state's strong university pipeline from Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland provides networking opportunities, while Baltimore's lower cost of living compared to NYC makes it attractive for fintech companies expanding operations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored fintech jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
