Associate Product Manager, Traffic Shaping
Boston, MA
Hybrid Schedule (M/F remote, T/W/TH in-office)
At Magnite, we cultivate an environment of continuous growth and collaboration. Our work impacts what millions of people read, watch, and buy, and we're looking for people to help us tackle that responsibility with creativity and focus. Magnite (NASDAQ: MGNI) is the world's largest independent sell-side advertising platform. Publishers use our technology to monetize their content across all screens and formats, including CTV / streaming, online video, display, and audio. Our tech fuels billions of transactions per day!
About this team:
Traffic Shaping uses machine learning to identify the ad requests most valuable to process, helping maximize publisher revenue while using infrastructure efficiently. Operating at a scale of trillions of requests per day, we partner closely with Data Science and Engineering through a fast, experiment-driven cycle of A/B tests and frequent high-impact deployments.
We're hiring an Associate Product Manager to join our Boston team as an on-ramp into product management. We are not expecting a polished PM out of the gate. We're looking for someone analytical and technical, willing to learn on the job, and able to work side by side with an experienced team of product managers, data scientists, and engineers. We'll invest in developing your skills through real mentorship, hands-on projects, and direct feedback. This role is designed to build the skills and experience needed to take on progressively broader product ownership.
In this role, you will:
- Build a deep understanding of the Traffic Shaping product, its data, and the systems it interacts with, developing the context needed to make sound product decisions
- Analyze large and sometimes messy datasets, turning the results into clear insights, recommendations, and next steps
- Partner with Product, Data Science, and Engineering to design, run, and evaluate A/B tests and deployment validations
- Identify and implement improvements to product operations, launch processes, and recurring workflows, including opportunities for automation
- Translate product problems into clear requirements, coordinate execution across functions, and communicate results to stakeholders
- Take progressively broader ownership, beginning with scoped features and growing into end-to-end responsibility for initiatives from definition through rollout and validation
We’re looking for someone with:
- Early-career hunger to learn. A recent graduate, or someone with ~1-2 years of experience in an analytical or technical role (e.g., analyst, entry-level data scientist, or engineer) who is looking to move into product. We care more about raw ability, curiosity, and grit than years of experience. Prior product management and ad tech experience are not required.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Comfort with data (Excel charts, pivots, basic models, plus SQL or the ability to pick it up fast).
- Technical comfort. Not scared to use the command line, work with AI tools, or read and write a little code. You don't need to be an engineer.
- Clear communication, in writing and verbally. (This grows with repetition, and we'll coach you!)
- An ownership mentality. You take something and follow through without being chased.
- A quantitative or technical background (preferred, not required). e.g., math, statistics, economics, computer science, engineering. No specialized (e.g., ML) degree and no ad tech experience required.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
In Massachusetts, the base salary range for this role is $95,000 – $105,000.
Actual compensation will be determined based on location, experience, skills, and internal equity.
This role is also eligible for:
- Annual performance-based bonus
- Equity (NASDAQ: MGNI)
- Comprehensive benefits package
During the interview process, candidates will receive more specific information about the salary range applicable to their experience and location.
Perks and Benefits:
- Comprehensive Healthcare Coverage from Day One
- Generous Time Off
- Holiday Breaks and Quarterly Wellness Days
- Equity and Employee Stock Purchase Plan
- Family-Focused Benefits and Parental Leave
- 401k Retirement Savings Plan with Employer Match
- Disability and Life Insurance
- Cell Phone Subsidy
- Monthly Fitness and Reimbursement
Career Growth:
We support internal mobility, skill development, and leadership pathways through structured career frameworks and learning programs.
Company Culture:
Magnite’s culture is rooted in collaboration and connection, recognizing that both are essential to success. Our hybrid schedule includes two remote workdays (Monday and Friday) and three in-office days (Tuesday through Thursday), where employees can take advantage of catered lunches, beverages, snacks, training opportunities, and engaging office events that enhance the work experience. In addition, we support our team through meaningful benefits and programs, including community service and volunteer opportunities, company-matched charitable contributions, access to mental health resources, structured career development initiatives and growth frameworks, culture and inclusion programs, and our Bonusly peer-to-peer recognition platform.
About us
The world's leading agencies and brands trust our platform to access brand-safe, high-quality ad inventory and execute billions of advertising transactions each month. Search Marketing & Advertising Jobs in MassachusettsMarketing & Advertising OPT Sponsorship Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
Which marketing and advertising companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Massachusetts?
Boston-based agencies including Digitas, MullenLowe, and Havas have documented histories of hiring international candidates on OPT authorization. Beyond agencies, large technology and life sciences companies headquartered in the greater Boston area, such as those clustered in Cambridge and Waltham, regularly hire marketing professionals and are familiar with OPT work authorization. Checking DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data can help you identify which specific employers have filed for international workers in marketing roles.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most marketing and advertising F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Boston is the primary concentration point, hosting the majority of the state's advertising agencies, brand strategy firms, and corporate marketing departments. Cambridge is a strong secondary market due to its biotech and technology sector, where product marketing and growth roles are common. Waltham and Burlington along Route 128 also have notable employer density in technology marketing. Smaller markets like Worcester have fewer agency options but some regional brand-side opportunities.
What types of marketing and advertising roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for OPT must be directly related to your degree field. For marketing and advertising graduates, qualifying positions commonly include digital marketing analyst, market research analyst, brand strategist, SEO and paid media specialist, marketing data analyst, content strategist, and account coordinator at agencies. Roles requiring quantitative analysis or data interpretation tend to align well with STEM-designated marketing programs, which may qualify graduates for a 24-month STEM OPT extension.
How do I find marketing & advertising F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters job listings by visa type, including F-1 OPT, and by industry such as marketing and advertising, so you can focus on Massachusetts employers who have demonstrated sponsorship history. Beyond using Migrate Mate, reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure records can help you verify which Boston-area employers have previously supported international workers in marketing and advertising job classifications.
Are there any state-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Massachusetts marketing jobs?
Massachusetts employers, particularly in Boston, are generally experienced with international hiring due to the high concentration of universities in the region, which reduces the friction some international candidates face elsewhere. However, OPT authorization is federally governed by USCIS regardless of state, so your work authorization timeline, the 90-day unemployment limit, and STEM extension eligibility are all determined by federal rules, not Massachusetts-specific regulations. Always confirm your degree's CIP code with your DSO to assess STEM OPT eligibility before accepting a role.
