Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for administrative assistants?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for administrative roles tend to be major automotive companies such as Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis, healthcare systems including Henry Ford Health and Beaumont Health, and research universities like the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. These organizations have dedicated HR and legal teams experienced in sponsoring H-1B visa and other work visas for qualified administrative staff.
Which visa types are most common for administrative assistant roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most commonly sponsored visa for administrative assistants in Michigan, but it requires the employer to demonstrate the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, which can be a higher bar for general administrative positions. L-1B visas occasionally apply for intracompany transfers, and TN visas are an option for Canadian or Mexican nationals in qualifying administrative capacities. Eligibility depends heavily on specific job duties and degree requirements.
Which cities in Michigan have the most administrative assistant visa sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its broader metro area account for the largest share of administrative assistant sponsorship activity in Michigan, driven by the automotive industry's global workforce needs. Ann Arbor sees significant demand from the University of Michigan and its affiliated research institutions. Grand Rapids is a secondary hub, supported by healthcare employers and manufacturing companies. Lansing also generates some activity through state government contractors and Michigan State University.
How to find administrative assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and lets you filter administrative assistant roles in Michigan by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not sifting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. The platform surfaces positions from Michigan employers with a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which is particularly useful in a state where sponsorship willingness varies widely by industry and company size.
Are there state-specific considerations for administrative assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are set at the federal level by the Department of Labor, but actual wage benchmarks vary by metro area, so Detroit and Ann Arbor positions typically reflect higher prevailing wages than rural Michigan. University and hospital employers in Michigan often have more experience navigating sponsorship paperwork than smaller private firms. Applicants with degrees in business administration or a directly related field strengthen the specialty occupation case for administrative roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored administrative assistant jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
