Which legal companies sponsor E-3 visas in Michigan?
Michigan's E-3 legal sponsors include global law firms with Detroit offices such as Honigman, Dykema Gossett, and Dickinson Wright, alongside corporate legal departments at Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis. Financial institutions and healthcare systems operating in Michigan also file E-3 Labor Condition Applications for in-house counsel roles. Sponsorship patterns vary by firm size and practice area demand.
Which cities in Michigan have the most legal E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Detroit holds the largest concentration of legal E-3 roles in Michigan, driven by its density of AmLaw-ranked firms and Fortune 500 corporate legal departments. Ann Arbor attracts legal professionals in intellectual property and technology licensing, particularly linked to University of Michigan commercialization activity. Grand Rapids has a growing mid-market firm presence. Lansing sees demand in regulatory and government affairs legal work.
What types of legal roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify under E-3 specialty occupation requirements include corporate attorney, litigation associate, intellectual property counsel, compliance officer, and contract specialist, provided the position formally requires at least a bachelor's degree in law or a directly related field. General paralegal or legal assistant roles that do not carry a degree requirement as a formal condition of employment are less likely to qualify.
How do I find legal E-3 sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters Michigan legal jobs by employers with verified E-3 Labor Condition Application filing history, so you can identify law firms and corporate legal departments that have actively sponsored Australian professionals rather than cold-applying to unknown sponsors. Search by practice area and city to narrow results to Detroit, Ann Arbor, or Grand Rapids. Reviewing an employer's LCA history through Migrate Mate gives you a clearer picture of genuine sponsorship intent before you apply.
Are there Michigan-specific considerations for E-3 legal sponsorship?
Michigan attorneys must be licensed through the State Bar of Michigan, and E-3 applicants seeking associate or counsel roles will typically need to demonstrate bar admission or eligibility. Australian law degrees are generally accepted as meeting the educational component of specialty occupation, but employers and the Department of Labor assess each position individually. Corporate legal roles outside direct practice may have more flexibility on jurisdiction-specific licensing requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 legal jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
