Which medical devices companies in Michigan sponsor E-3 visas?
Michigan hosts several major medical device employers with documented E-3 and specialty occupation sponsorship activity. Stryker, headquartered in Kalamazoo, is among the most active, along with Zimmer Biomet and Medtronic operations in the state. Smaller contract manufacturers and OEM suppliers in the Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor areas also file Labor Condition Applications for engineering and regulatory roles, though sponsorship capacity varies by company size and hiring cycle.
Which cities in Michigan have the most medical devices E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Kalamazoo is Michigan's strongest concentration for medical device E-3 roles, driven by Stryker's global headquarters and its network of satellite facilities. Grand Rapids has a growing cluster of orthopedic and surgical device manufacturers. The Ann Arbor corridor benefits from proximity to the University of Michigan, attracting medtech R&D employers. Detroit's broader metro area also hosts distribution, quality, and regulatory operations for national device companies.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in Michigan?
E-3 sponsorship requires a specialty occupation, meaning the role must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In Michigan's medical device industry, qualifying roles commonly include mechanical and biomedical engineers, regulatory affairs specialists, quality assurance engineers, clinical applications specialists, and R&D scientists. Positions in manufacturing operations or sales that don't require a specific degree field are less likely to meet the specialty occupation threshold.
How do I find medical devices E-3 sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for E-3 job seekers and surfaces Michigan medical device employers with verified sponsorship history, so you can focus on companies that have already filed Labor Condition Applications for relevant roles. Filtering by industry and state lets you identify active hiring activity in Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor without manually cross-referencing OFLC disclosure data. Confirming sponsorship willingness directly with employers during the application process is still recommended.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in the medical devices industry?
Michigan's medical device sector is heavily concentrated in a few metro areas, so geographic flexibility within the state can meaningfully expand your options. Many Michigan device employers are subject to FDA quality system regulations, which increases demand for regulatory and quality engineers with specialist degrees. Michigan does not impose additional state-level visa sponsorship requirements, but employers in regulated device manufacturing tend to have more structured immigration processes than general manufacturers, which can work in an E-3 applicant's favor.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 medical devices jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
