Which medical devices companies sponsor E-3 visas in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania hosts several major medical device employers with documented E-3 and specialty occupation sponsorship activity, including Siemens Healthineers, West Pharmaceutical Services, and Integra LifeSciences. Johnson & Johnson MedTech maintains a significant presence in the southeastern part of the state. Sponsorship practices vary by role, business unit, and hiring cycle, so confirming current sponsorship willingness directly with each employer's HR or talent acquisition team is always the appropriate first step.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most medical devices E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs in Montgomery and Chester counties represent the highest concentration of medical devices employment in Pennsylvania, anchored by the region's established pharmaceutical and biotech corridor. Pittsburgh has a smaller but growing cluster tied to Carnegie Mellon University and UPMC's medical technology partnerships. For Australians on the E-3, roles in the Philadelphia metro area tend to offer the widest range of specialty occupation positions across engineering, regulatory, and clinical functions.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field are the core of E-3 eligibility in this sector. Positions that consistently qualify include biomedical engineer, regulatory affairs specialist, quality systems engineer, clinical research associate, and software engineer working on device software. Roles requiring broader or non-specific educational backgrounds, such as general sales or entry-level technician positions, are less likely to meet the specialty occupation definition that the E-3 requires.
How do I find medical devices E-3 sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search: it lets you filter by visa type, industry, and state, surfacing Pennsylvania medical devices roles at employers with verified E-3 or specialty occupation filing history. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing job postings that rarely specify visa sponsorship availability. You can also cross-reference employer names you find against DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data through the OFLC Wage Search tool to confirm prior filing activity before applying.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for medical devices E-3 sponsorship?
Pennsylvania does not impose state-level work visa requirements beyond federal obligations, but medical devices employers in the state operating under FDA oversight tend to have structured compliance functions, which can affect how quickly an employer moves through the sponsorship process. Companies with established HR and legal departments, common among larger device manufacturers in the Philadelphia corridor, are generally more familiar with LCA filing requirements than smaller startups. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry administers state wage and labor law separately from federal prevailing wage obligations under the E-3.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 medical devices jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
