Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2A visas in Michigan?
Michigan's most active H-2A sponsors in agriculture include fruit and vegetable growers in the western Lower Peninsula, large egg and poultry operations like Herbruck's Poultry Ranch, and berry farms concentrated in Oceana, Mason, and Leelanau counties. Greenhouse and nursery operations in Kent and Ottawa counties also file LCAs regularly. Employer sponsorship activity is searchable through OFLC disclosure data by county and crop type.
Which cities in Michigan have the most agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs?
H-2A agriculture jobs in Michigan concentrate in the western Lower Peninsula and the Thumb region. Hart and Shelby in Oceana County are hubs for blueberry and strawberry harvesting. Traverse City and surrounding Leelanau and Benzie counties see significant cherry-harvest demand. Thumb-area counties including Huron, Tuscola, and Sanilac draw H-2A workers for dry bean, sugar beet, and corn operations during peak growing seasons.
How do I find agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate lists verified H-2A agriculture jobs in Michigan filtered by employer LCA filing history, so you can see which farms and growers have active sponsorship records. Search by county or crop type to narrow results to your target region. Because H-2A positions are seasonal, checking Migrate Mate early in the calendar year gives you the best window before spring and summer LCA filings close out available slots.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2A sponsorship in Michigan?
H-2A covers temporary or seasonal agricultural labor, so Michigan employers most commonly sponsor crop harvesters, field workers, fruit pickers, irrigation technicians, and farm labor supervisors. Greenhouse workers, nursery laborers, and livestock handlers on qualifying seasonal operations also appear in Michigan LCA filings. Roles must be tied to a defined season with a fixed end date; year-round permanent positions generally do not qualify for H-2A certification.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2A agriculture workers in Michigan?
Michigan's H-2A workers must be covered under the state's worker's compensation system, and employers are required to provide housing that meets Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development standards. Michigan's short growing season means most H-2A contracts run between April and November, with cherry and berry harvests peaking in July and August. Workers should verify that their contract specifies the worksite county, as Michigan farms sometimes operate across multiple counties under a single LCA.
