Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2A visas in Oregon?
Oregon H-2A visa petitioners include large nursery operations in Washington and Marion Counties, orchard and berry growers in the Hood River and Willamette Valley regions, and vegetable farming operations in the Treasure Valley near Ontario. Companies like Saul Nursery, Fresh Harvest, and various labor contractors that serve Oregon growers appear regularly in Department of Labor H-2A job order disclosures. Sponsorship activity concentrates heavily among mid-to-large operations that depend on predictable seasonal labor volumes.
Which cities in Oregon have the most agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs?
The highest concentration of H-2A agriculture job orders in Oregon clusters around Woodburn and Salem in the Willamette Valley, where nursery and berry operations are dense. Hood River sees significant orchard-related activity, particularly for apple and pear harvests. Ontario, in Malheur County along the Idaho border, generates H-2A demand from onion, potato, and sugar beet growers. Medford and the Rogue Valley also produce seasonal orchard and vineyard job orders.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2A sponsorship?
H-2A covers temporary or seasonal agricultural labor. In Oregon, qualifying roles typically include crop harvesters, nursery workers, irrigation technicians, orchard pruners, vineyard laborers, and general farmworkers involved in planting, cultivating, or processing field crops. The work must be tied to a defined season and cannot be year-round employment. Roles requiring specialized equipment operation, such as tractor or forklift work in a farm setting, also commonly appear in Oregon H-2A job orders.
How do I find agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate lists H-2A agriculture jobs in Oregon drawn from verified employer petitions and Department of Labor job order disclosures, so you can filter directly for Oregon-specific openings without sorting through unsponsored listings. Because H-2A positions are tied to specific seasonal windows, checking Migrate Mate regularly from late winter through early spring gives you the best view of upcoming harvest and planting season openings before positions are filled.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for H-2A agriculture workers?
Oregon has some of the stronger farmworker protection laws in the country, including rules around housing standards, heat illness prevention, and pesticide safety that H-2A employers must meet alongside federal requirements. Oregon OSHA enforces these standards independently of federal OSHA. Workers in the Willamette Valley should also be aware that nursery work, which is common there, can involve more year-round operations than field crops, so confirming a role's defined seasonal period is important before accepting an H-2A position.
