Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2A visas in Washington?
Washington's largest H-2A visa filers are concentrated in tree fruit and wine grape production. Major operations include Stemilt Growers, McDougall and Sons, and Allan Bros. Fruit in the Yakima and Wenatchee valleys. Hop producers in the Yakima Valley and onion and potato growers in the Columbia Basin also file significant H-2A job orders each year. Sponsorship volume tends to follow harvest cycles, peaking from late summer through fall.
Which cities in Washington have the most agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs?
Yakima, Wenatchee, and Sunnyside consistently account for the highest concentration of H-2A job orders in Washington. The Yakima Valley is the state's primary agricultural corridor, covering apple, cherry, hop, and wine grape production. The Columbia Basin cities of Moses Lake and Pasco also generate steady H-2A demand, particularly for potato, onion, and asparagus operations during their respective harvest windows.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2A sponsorship?
H-2A sponsorship covers temporary or seasonal agricultural work, so the qualifying roles in Washington are almost entirely harvest and field labor positions. Common titles include crop hand, orchard worker, apple picker, cherry harvester, hop yard worker, irrigation technician, and tractor operator. Pruning and thinning crew positions are also frequently sponsored in the winter and spring months to support Washington's tree fruit operations ahead of the main harvest season.
How do I find agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate lists verified H-2A agriculture jobs in Washington, organized by employer, location, and crop type. You can filter specifically for Washington H-2A postings to see current seasonal openings across the Yakima Valley, Wenatchee area, and Columbia Basin. Because H-2A job orders are time-sensitive and tied to harvest windows, checking Migrate Mate regularly as spring and summer approach gives you the best view of active sponsorship opportunities before positions are filled.
Are there any Washington-specific considerations for H-2A agriculture workers?
Washington has its own state Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) requirements that apply alongside federal H-2A rules, including specific housing and safety standards for agricultural workers. The state's agricultural season is highly compressed, particularly for apple and cherry harvests, so H-2A job orders often have firm start dates. Workers should also be aware that Washington's climate means early-season pruning work in January and February can precede the main harvest by several months, with separate job orders for each period.
