Which companies sponsor visas for home health nurses in Michigan?
Henry Ford Health, Corewell Health (formerly Beaumont), Trinity Health, and the University of Michigan Health System have documented histories of sponsoring foreign-educated nurses. Staffing agencies specializing in healthcare, such as those placing nurses under VisaScreen-cleared credentials, also operate actively in Michigan. Smaller home health agencies in Detroit and Grand Rapids have sponsored nurses through EB-3 immigrant visa pathways, though practices vary by organization and year.
Which visa types are most common for home health nurse roles in Michigan?
The EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa is the most common pathway for internationally educated home health nurses in Michigan, typically paired with PERM labor certification filed by the sponsoring employer. The H-1B is less common for bedside or field nursing roles because many are not classified as specialty occupations under USCIS standards. Some nurses also enter through the TN visa if they hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship and meet the registered nurse requirements.
Which cities in Michigan have the most home health nurse sponsorship jobs?
Metro Detroit, including Dearborn and Troy, has the highest concentration of home health nurse sponsorship opportunities given the density of large health systems and home health agencies. Grand Rapids is a growing secondary hub, supported by Corewell Health's west Michigan network. Lansing and Ann Arbor also see consistent postings. Some rural Health Professional Shortage Areas across the Upper Peninsula and mid-Michigan attract nurses through federal recruitment incentive programs.
How to find home health nurse visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international nurses and other foreign-educated professionals seeking visa sponsorship jobs in the United States. You can filter directly by state and role to surface Michigan home health nurse positions where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Because sponsorship availability changes frequently, using a platform like Migrate Mate that aggregates and updates these listings saves significant time compared to searching general job boards.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for home health nurses seeking visa sponsorship?
Michigan requires home health nurses to hold an active Michigan RN license, which means internationally educated nurses must pass the NCLEX-RN and meet the Michigan Board of Nursing's credential evaluation requirements before an employer can complete sponsorship. Michigan participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) as of 2024, which can simplify multi-state practice for nurses already licensed in another compact state. Employers in federally designated shortage areas may have additional recruitment flexibility.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored home health nurse jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
