Which companies in Michigan sponsor visas for strategy and business operations roles?
Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Stellantis, and Dow are among the most active H-1B sponsors for business operations and strategy positions in Michigan. Large consulting firms with Michigan offices, including Deloitte and Accenture, also file regularly for these roles. University of Michigan and Michigan State University sponsor for strategy operations roles within their administrative and research divisions as well.
Which visa types are most common for strategy business operations roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for strategy and business operations professionals in Michigan, as these roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in business, finance, economics, or a related field, qualifying them as specialty occupations. Candidates with advanced degrees may also pursue the EB-2 immigrant visa pathway. Those transferring within a multinational company may be eligible for the L-1A or L-1B visa instead.
Which cities in Michigan have the most strategy business operations sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its metropolitan suburbs, including Dearborn, Troy, and Southfield, account for the largest concentration of strategy and business operations sponsorship jobs in Michigan, driven heavily by the automotive sector. Ann Arbor is a secondary hub with a mix of technology, life sciences, and university-affiliated roles. Grand Rapids offers growing opportunities in healthcare systems and manufacturing operations strategy.
How to find strategy business operations visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse strategy and business operations openings in Michigan without sorting through roles that won't support international candidates. You can filter by state and role type to surface positions at Michigan employers like Ford, GM, and regional consulting firms that have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B workers for operations and strategy functions.
Are there state-specific considerations for strategy business operations visa sponsorship in Michigan?
Michigan's concentration in automotive and manufacturing means many strategy and business operations roles are tied to project cycles and operational transformation initiatives, which can influence hiring timelines. The University of Michigan and Michigan State University produce a significant pipeline of international MBA graduates who compete for these roles locally. Employers filing H-1B petitions must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the specific occupation and geographic area, which in Michigan varies by metro region.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored strategy business operations jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
