Which companies sponsor visas for COOs in Minnesota?
Large Minnesota-headquartered corporations are the most active sponsors for senior operations roles. UnitedHealth Group, Target, Cargill, Best Buy, and Medtronic have all sponsored executive-level positions in the past. Sponsorship at the COO level is relatively uncommon compared to mid-level roles, so candidates tend to find the most success with large enterprises that have dedicated immigration counsel and established sponsorship infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for COO roles in Minnesota?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa for COO positions, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in business, operations, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. The O-1A is another pathway for candidates with an extraordinary record of executive achievement. Multinational executives transferring from a parent or affiliate company abroad may also qualify for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most COO sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul account for the large majority of COO-level sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota. The broader Twin Cities metro is home to more Fortune 500 headquarters per capita than almost any other U.S. metro, concentrating senior leadership hiring in that corridor. Rochester has a smaller but notable presence through Mayo Clinic, which occasionally hires senior operations executives and has sponsored visas for specialized roles.
How to find coo visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find COO roles in Minnesota that are open to visa sponsorship. You can filter by state and job title to surface employers actively hiring for operations leadership positions. Because COO sponsorships are posted less frequently than mid-level roles, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for new Minnesota COO listings helps you move quickly when opportunities appear.
What state-specific factors should international candidates know about COO roles in Minnesota?
Minnesota's economy is heavily weighted toward healthcare, retail, agriculture, and financial services, so COO candidates with operations experience in those sectors have a clear advantage. The state's large healthcare corridor, anchored by UnitedHealth Group, Optum, and Mayo Clinic, is particularly active for senior operations hiring. Employers sponsoring at the executive level are generally required to meet prevailing wage standards for the specific occupation and metro area, which the Department of Labor determines independently of any negotiated offer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored coo jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
