Which companies sponsor visas for NPs in Montana?
The largest sponsors of NP visa applications in Montana are regional health systems, including Billings Clinic, Benefis Health System, and SCL Health (now Intermountain Health). Critical Access Hospitals across rural Montana, such as those in Havre, Miles City, and Glendive, also sponsor international NPs due to persistent primary care shortages. Federally Qualified Health Centers operating in the state have sponsored J-1 and H-1B applicants to fill underserved area positions.
Which visa types are most common for NP roles in Montana?
H-1B is the most common visa for nurse practitioners in Montana, as the NP role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a graduate-level degree. The J-1 visa with a Conrad 30 waiver is also widely used, allowing internationally trained physicians and advanced practice providers to fulfill a service obligation in a Health Professional Shortage Area, of which Montana has many. Some NPs also enter on TN status if they are Canadian or Mexican citizens.
Which cities in Montana have the most NP sponsorship jobs?
Billings is Montana's largest city and the primary hub for NP sponsorship activity, anchored by Billings Clinic and St. Vincent Healthcare. Great Falls and Missoula follow closely, with Benefis Health System and SCL Health driving hiring there. Helena, as the state capital, has steady demand through St. Peter's Health. Beyond these urban centers, rural communities throughout eastern and central Montana actively recruit NPs due to federally designated shortage area status.
How to find np visa sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find NP visa sponsorship jobs specific to Montana, with listings filtered by role and state so you can see which employers are actively hiring internationally. Given Montana's heavy reliance on rural health systems and Critical Access Hospitals, it is worth filtering by smaller employer types alongside the major regional health systems. Migrate Mate aggregates sponsorship-willing employers, saving significant research time in a state where hiring is spread across many smaller facilities.
Are there state-specific considerations for NPs seeking sponsorship in Montana?
Montana is a full practice authority state, meaning NPs can practice, prescribe, and operate independently without a physician supervision agreement. This makes NP roles more straightforward to classify as specialty occupations for H-1B purposes. Montana's large proportion of federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas and Medically Underserved Areas also expands access to J-1 Conrad 30 waivers, which require a three-year service commitment at an approved site in exchange for waiving the two-year home residency requirement.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored np jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
