Which education companies sponsor visas in Nebraska?
Major sponsors include the University of Nebraska system (Lincoln, Omaha, Kearney campuses), Creighton University, and large school districts like Omaha Public Schools and Lincoln Public Schools. Private institutions such as Nebraska Wesleyan University and Concordia University also sponsor educators. Educational technology companies and private K-12 schools throughout the state provide additional opportunities.
How to find education visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international educators with Nebraska schools and universities that sponsor work visas. Focus on university positions, which commonly sponsor H-1B visa and J-1 visas, and large urban districts that have experience with international hiring. Rural districts may also sponsor if they have critical teacher shortages in your subject area.
Which visa types are most common for education roles in Nebraska?
H-1B visas are standard for university faculty, researchers, and specialized educational roles requiring advanced degrees. J-1 visas serve visiting scholars and exchange teachers. H-1B1 visa applies to Chilean and Singaporean educators. TN visa status works for Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying positions. O-1 visas may apply for educators with extraordinary achievements in their field.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most education sponsorship jobs?
Lincoln and Omaha dominate with major university campuses and large school districts that regularly sponsor international staff. Lincoln hosts the flagship University of Nebraska campus, while Omaha houses both UNO and Creighton University. Kearney offers opportunities through UNK. Smaller cities like Grand Island, Hastings, and Fremont also have sponsoring institutions.
What makes Nebraska education visa sponsorship unique compared to other states?
Nebraska's lower cost of living provides competitive real purchasing power despite potentially lower nominal wages than coastal states. The state's strong agricultural ties create demand for specialized agricultural education and extension roles. Rural districts may offer expedited hiring processes and housing assistance to attract international teachers in shortage areas like math, science, and special education.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored education jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
