What visa types are most common for insurance jobs in Nebraska?

L-1 visas are used for transfers from international insurance operations. O-1 visas occasionally apply for executives with extraordinary ability in risk management or insurance innovation.
Which Nebraska cities have the most insurance sponsorship opportunities?
Omaha leads with headquarters of major insurers including Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries and Mutual of Omaha. Lincoln follows with regional offices and operations centers. Grand Island and Norfolk have smaller but notable opportunities with regional carriers and agricultural insurance specialists serving Nebraska's farming communities.
Are there special considerations for insurance sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska's agricultural economy creates demand for specialists in crop insurance and agricultural risk management. The state's lower cost of living affects prevailing wage calculations favorably. University of Nebraska graduates in actuarial science often transition to sponsored positions, and the state's regulatory environment attracts captive insurance companies.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored insurance jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
