Which accounting companies in Nebraska sponsor visas?
Major visa sponsors include Berkshire Hathaway's insurance subsidiaries in Omaha, Mutual of Omaha, TD Ameritrade (now part of Charles Schwab), and regional accounting firms like Lutz & Company and BKD CPAs. Several mid-size manufacturing companies in Omaha and Lincoln also sponsor accounting professionals for controller and financial analyst positions, particularly those with industry-specific experience.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most accounting visa sponsorship jobs?
Omaha leads with approximately 70% of Nebraska's accounting sponsorship opportunities, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance companies, and Fortune 500 headquarters. Lincoln follows with positions at state agencies, the University of Nebraska system, and regional businesses. Grand Island and Kearney offer limited opportunities, mainly with agricultural processing companies requiring specialized cost accounting expertise.
How to find accounting visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international accountants with Nebraska employers who sponsor work visas. The platform filters accounting positions specifically by sponsorship availability and location within Nebraska. Focus on Omaha's financial district and Lincoln's government sector, where demand for CPAs and financial analysts with H-1B visa or other work authorization is highest among established employers.
Which visa types are most common for accounting roles in Nebraska?
H-1B visas dominate accounting sponsorship in Nebraska, particularly for CPA-required positions at insurance companies and regional firms. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican accountants with bachelor's degrees. Some larger employers use L-1 visas for transferring accounting managers from international offices, while O-1 visas occasionally apply for senior financial executives with exceptional qualifications.
What are prevailing wage requirements for accounting positions in Nebraska?
Nebraska's prevailing wages for accounting roles are generally lower than coastal markets but must still meet Department of Labor standards for visa sponsorship. Entry-level accountants typically need bachelor's degrees in accounting or finance, while senior positions require CPA certification or specialized experience. The state's cost of living advantage helps stretch prevailing wage requirements compared to major metropolitan areas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
