Search Administrative Assistant Jobs in New JerseyAdministrative Assistant Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for administrative assistants in New Jersey?
Large multinationals with significant New Jersey footprints are the most active sponsors for administrative assistant roles. Companies like Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, Cognizant in Teaneck, Merck in Kenilworth, and Prudential Financial in Newark have histories of sponsoring skilled workers across support and professional functions. Government contractors and university systems, including Rutgers University, also periodically sponsor administrative staff.
Which visa types are most common for administrative assistant roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B visa is the most commonly pursued path, but administrative assistant roles face scrutiny under the specialty occupation standard, which requires a position directly tied to a specific bachelor's degree field. Roles involving specialized functions, such as executive support in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs or legal administration, are more likely to qualify. The TN visa applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible occupations, and L-1 visa intracompany transfers cover internal moves within multinational firms.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most administrative assistant sponsorship jobs?
Newark and Jersey City lead due to their dense concentration of financial services, insurance, and professional services employers. New Brunswick and the Route 1 corridor through Princeton benefit from pharmaceutical and biotech industry demand. Parsippany, Florham Park, and Iselin in central New Jersey are home to numerous corporate headquarters, generating consistent demand for administrative support professionals across departments.
How to find administrative assistant visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international job seekers and filters administrative assistant roles in New Jersey by visa sponsorship availability, saving you the time of screening hundreds of listings manually. Because sponsorship for administrative roles depends heavily on the employer and the specific function, focusing on large multinationals and regulated industries like pharma and finance in New Jersey will give you the strongest chances of finding genuine sponsorship opportunities.
What should international candidates know about pursuing administrative assistant sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey's administrative assistant market is competitive, and H-1B visa sponsorship for support roles is less common than for technical or specialized positions. Candidates with niche expertise, such as regulatory affairs coordination, clinical trial administration, or bilingual executive support, are better positioned to demonstrate specialty occupation eligibility. New Jersey's prevailing wage requirements mean employers must pay market-rate compensation, and large employers in regulated industries are generally more experienced with the sponsorship process than smaller firms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored administrative assistant jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
