Search Transportation Jobs in New JerseyTransportation OPT Sponsorship Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
Which transportation companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in New Jersey?
Companies with significant transportation and logistics operations in New Jersey that have historically filed OPT-compatible positions include Maersk, FedEx, UPS, Amazon, and XPO Logistics. Port-facing employers near Newark and Elizabeth, as well as freight and supply chain firms along the I-95 corridor, are among the more active hirers of international students in this sector.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most transportation F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Newark leads due to its international airport and proximity to Port Newark-Elizabeth, one of the busiest container ports on the East Coast. Edison, Parsippany, and Woodbridge see activity from regional logistics and freight companies. Jersey City attracts supply chain and operations roles tied to nearby New York City distribution networks. Secaucus and Carteret also have warehouse and fleet management employers.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles that align with STEM-designated programs tend to see the most OPT sponsorship activity in transportation. These include supply chain analyst, logistics engineer, transportation data analyst, operations research analyst, and fleet optimization specialist. Positions requiring quantitative skills, systems thinking, or engineering degrees are generally more compatible with OPT authorization than non-degree-track operational roles.
How do I find transportation F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 OPT, and by industry and state. Searching for transportation roles in New Jersey on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have sponsored international candidates in this sector before, which saves time compared to filtering generic job boards manually. You can also filter by STEM OPT eligibility if your degree qualifies.
Are there any New Jersey-specific considerations for F-1 OPT in the transportation industry?
New Jersey's transportation sector is heavily tied to port operations, rail freight, and last-mile delivery infrastructure, which means many entry-level roles are operational rather than degree-requiring. F-1 OPT requires that your job be directly related to your major field of study, so candidates should confirm the role aligns with their degree before applying. STEM OPT extension eligibility depends on your specific program's CIP code, not just your general field.
