Search Accounting Jobs in New YorkAccounting STEM OPT Sponsorship Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
Which accounting companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in New York?
The Big Four, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, are among the most active F-1 STEM OPT sponsors in New York, particularly for roles in financial data analytics and advisory technology. Regional firms like Grant Thornton and BDO also maintain New York offices with sponsorship history. Financial services companies such as JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs sponsor accounting-adjacent roles that qualify under STEM-designated programs.
Which cities in New York have the most accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
New York City accounts for the overwhelming majority of accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship activity in the state, driven by its concentration of financial institutions, multinational corporations, and professional services firms in Manhattan and Midtown. Buffalo and Albany have smaller but active markets, particularly in public accounting and state government-adjacent audit roles. Long Island hosts regional offices for several national firms with documented sponsorship history.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT generally fall under CIP codes tied to accounting information systems, financial analytics, or management information systems rather than traditional accounting alone. In practice, this includes positions such as data analytics in finance, quantitative audit roles, financial technology implementation, and forensic accounting with analytical components. Employers must confirm the role's STEM degree classification and the graduate's CIP code align with the STEM OPT Designated Degree Program List before authorizing the extension.
How do I find accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in New York, showing employers with verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history so you can prioritize companies that have sponsored similar roles before. Because STEM OPT eligibility depends on both your CIP code and the role's STEM degree classification, focusing on employers with active sponsorship records in accounting and financial analytics narrows your search to genuinely viable opportunities in the New York market.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
New York requires STEM OPT employers to be enrolled in E-Verify, which is standard for large firms in the state but worth confirming with smaller regional accounting practices. New York City's competitive hiring environment means many roles attract candidates from multiple visa categories, so demonstrating STEM OPT eligibility upfront, including the relevant CIP code and your designated school official's confirmation, can help clarify your work authorization status to employers unfamiliar with the extension requirements.
