Which airlines companies sponsor Green Card visas in New York?
Major carriers with substantial New York operations, including Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines, and JetBlue Airways, have documented histories of sponsoring Green Cards for qualified employees. Ground handling companies, aircraft maintenance organizations (MROs), and air cargo operators based at JFK and LaGuardia also file PERM labor certifications for specialized roles. Sponsorship typically targets positions where qualified U.S. workers are difficult to recruit.
Which cities in New York have the most airlines Green Card sponsorship jobs?
The majority of airlines Green Card sponsorship activity in New York is concentrated in the New York City metro area, particularly around JFK International Airport in Queens and LaGuardia Airport in East Elmhurst. Nassau County and surrounding areas also see activity from airport-adjacent operations and cargo facilities. Upstate cities like Albany and Buffalo have smaller regional carrier presences but generate some sponsorship opportunities in maintenance and operations roles.
What types of airlines roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship?
Roles that commonly qualify include aircraft maintenance engineers, avionics technicians, aerospace engineers, flight operations analysts, air traffic systems specialists, IT infrastructure roles supporting airline networks, and senior management positions in operations or logistics. These are positions requiring specialized degrees or certifications where employers can demonstrate a shortage of available U.S. workers through the PERM labor certification process filed with DOL.
How do I find airlines Green Card sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, letting you search for airlines roles in New York where employers have confirmed Green Card sponsorship. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can narrow results to carriers and aviation employers who have active PERM or EB-category sponsorship histories in the New York market, saving significant time in your job search.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in New York airlines jobs?
New York's high prevailing wage requirements, determined by DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool, mean employers must offer compensation meeting or exceeding local wage levels for the specific occupation before a PERM application can proceed. Aviation roles in New York also often require FAA certifications or security clearances, which can affect the employer's recruitment documentation requirements. The density of competing carriers in the New York metro can also influence how employers demonstrate recruitment good faith under PERM rules.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card airlines jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
