Which animal care & pet services companies sponsor Green Card visas in New York?
Larger employers in New York's animal care sector are the most active Green Card sponsors. The Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, VCA animal hospitals, and Banfield Pet Hospital locations across the state have sponsored foreign workers in veterinary roles. Cornell University's veterinary college in Ithaca also sponsors eligible researchers and clinicians. Independent practices occasionally sponsor, but are far less common than institutional or corporate employers.
Which cities in New York have the most animal care & pet services Green Card sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly Manhattan and Brooklyn, concentrates the highest volume of sponsored animal care roles due to the density of specialty veterinary hospitals and corporate pet service employers. Albany and Buffalo have regional veterinary hospitals that sponsor occasionally. Ithaca stands out for academic and research-oriented roles through Cornell University's veterinary programs, making it a notable option for internationally trained veterinary professionals.
What types of animal care & pet services roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in New York?
Green Card sponsorship in this industry most commonly applies to licensed veterinarians, veterinary specialists such as cardiologists or oncologists, and veterinary researchers. These roles typically qualify under the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories, which require a PERM labor certification filed by the employer. General pet grooming, dog walking, or kennel staff roles rarely qualify, as sponsorship is typically reserved for positions requiring advanced degrees or specialized licensure.
How do I find animal care & pet services Green Card sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters jobs by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card, and by industry. You can search animal care and pet services roles in New York directly on Migrate Mate without sifting through listings from employers who don't sponsor. Given how selective sponsorship is in this field, filtering by employer size and role type on Migrate Mate helps narrow your search to realistic opportunities.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in animal care & pet services?
New York requires veterinarians to hold a license issued by the New York State Education Department before practicing, regardless of immigration status. Employers filing a PERM application must demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available, which can be more challenging in metro areas like New York City where the local veterinary talent pool is larger. Internationally trained veterinarians typically need ECFVG or PAVE certification before a New York employer can begin the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card animal care & pet services jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
