Which biotech and pharma companies sponsor Green Card visas in New York?
Several large employers with significant New York operations have established track records of Green Card sponsorship, including Pfizer, Bristol Myers Squibb, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Novo Nordisk, and Boehringer Ingelheim. Smaller biotech firms concentrated in the New York City metro and Long Island's life sciences corridor also sponsor regularly, particularly for research scientists, bioinformaticians, and regulatory specialists in hard-to-fill roles.
Which cities in New York have the most biotech and pharma Green Card sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly Midtown Manhattan and the East Side medical corridor, has the highest concentration of pharma and biotech employers. Tarrytown and the broader Hudson Valley are home to Regeneron's headquarters and several contract research organizations. Long Island, including areas around Lake Success and Melville, hosts a notable cluster of pharmaceutical and specialty biotech companies with active sponsorship histories.
What types of biotech and pharma roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in New York?
Roles that routinely attract Green Card sponsorship include research scientists, computational biologists, biostatisticians, regulatory affairs specialists, clinical research associates, pharmacovigilance analysts, and process development engineers. These positions typically require advanced degrees (MS, PhD, or PharmD) in a directly relevant field, which supports EB-2 or EB-3 classification. Managerial roles with specialized scientific oversight can also qualify, depending on the employer's filing strategy.
How do I find biotech and pharma Green Card sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate lets you filter directly by visa type, state, and industry, so you can browse biotech and pharma roles in New York where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies with no sponsorship history. Migrate Mate's listings are specifically curated for international candidates, making it a practical starting point for narrowing your search to employers who are actively open to sponsoring.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in biotech and pharma?
New York's prevailing wage rates, set under Department of Labor guidelines, tend to be higher than the national average given the state's cost of living, which affects the wages employers must certify during the PERM labor certification process. Additionally, New York's active life sciences funding ecosystem, including support from ESD's Life Sciences Initiative, has expanded the number of smaller employers capable of sustaining multi-year sponsorship commitments through the EB-2 or EB-3 process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card biotech & pharma jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
