Manhattan accounts for the overwhelming share of fashion and apparel H-1B1 visa Singapore sponsorship jobs in New York. The Garment District around Seventh Avenue and Midtown South house hundreds of brand headquarters, showrooms, and design studios. What types of fashion & apparel roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B1 Singapore rules include fashion designer, technical designer, product development manager, merchandise planner, textile sourcing analyst, apparel supply chain analyst, and brand manager. Are there any New York-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship in fashion?
New York's fashion industry operates on seasonal hiring cycles tied to spring/summer and fall/winter collections, which can affect when sponsorship-eligible roles open. New York State does not impose additional visa-related requirements beyond federal rules, but employers in the fashion sector often require portfolio reviews alongside standard degree verification. The H-1B visa1 Singapore visa has an annual allocation of 1,400 visas for Singaporean nationals, a separate cap from the general H-1B, and does not require lottery participation, which simplifies the sponsorship timeline for qualifying employers and candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Singapore fashion & apparel jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
