Position Title: Substation and Automation Panel Design Engineer
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/Week
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Design electrical, mechanical, and system drawings for protection and control panels in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools. Develop logic diagrams and protection schemes based on technical drawings and further customer specifications. Prepare (FAT and SAT) Factory and Site Acceptance Test procedures for protection system projects. Collaborate with a team of professionals to develop electrical systems that meet industry standards and customer requirements. Be a technical leader in projects and lead other team members in project activities. Interface with customers including trouble shooting and commissioning support. Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases. Provide technical support to sales team with development of project scope of work, sales estimates, and proposals. Up to 10% domestic travel required. Hybrid work permitted.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered, or as an Electrical Engineer, Design Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. The position requires four (4) years of experience with the following:
- Working with Engineering Base-AUCOTEC software for panel design
- Working with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
- Experience with Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, or other relay and automation products and associated software
- Design and specify the transmission and distribution numerical relay and protection
- Experience reviewing and approving the design of other engineers
- Communication Network Technologies, including design and hardware configuration
- Communication protocols such as IEC61850 (MMS, Goose, or SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, Profinet, or Profibus
- Control and Protection commissioning experience
- ANSI standards and IEC standards
Up to 10% domestic travel required. Hybrid work permitted.
