Which companies sponsor visas for occupational therapists in North Carolina?
The largest sponsors in North Carolina include UNC Health, Duke University Health System, Atrium Health, Novant Health, and WakeMed. Pediatric-focused providers such as Nationwide Children's affiliates and Easter Seals UCP also hire internationally. Long-term care chains operating across the state, including Kindred and Genesis Healthcare, have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for occupational therapist roles in past OFLC disclosure cycles.
Which visa types are most common for occupational therapist roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for occupational therapists in North Carolina, as the role meets the specialty occupation standard requiring at least a master's degree under current AOTA and ACOTE requirements. Some employers also sponsor TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying OT credentials. EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship appears in long-term care settings where employers face persistent staffing shortages.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most occupational therapist sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill collectively generate the highest volume of OT sponsorship activity, anchored by Duke Health and UNC Health's extensive outpatient and inpatient networks. Charlotte is the second major hub, driven by Atrium Health and Novant Health. Winston-Salem sees consistent demand through Wake Forest Baptist Health. Smaller markets like Asheville and Greenville post openings periodically through regional hospital systems.
How to find occupational therapist visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate aggregates occupational therapist visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina and filters listings to employers with demonstrated sponsorship history, saving you from screening roles that won't support an H-1B or TN petition. Search the North Carolina OT category on Migrate Mate to see current openings across Raleigh, Charlotte, and Durham, and filter by visa type to match your specific situation.
Are there state-specific considerations for occupational therapists seeking visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina requires a state OT license issued by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy. International applicants must have their foreign credentials evaluated for equivalency before licensure, which adds time to the onboarding process employers factor into sponsorship timelines. North Carolina's HPSA-designated rural counties can make positions more attractive to employers willing to sponsor, as healthcare workforce incentives apply in those areas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored occupational therapist jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
