Which companies sponsor visas for administrative assistants in North Dakota?
Sanford Health and Essentia Health are among the more active sponsors in North Dakota, given their large administrative workforces across multiple campuses. State government agencies, the University of North Dakota, and North Dakota State University also hire administrative staff and have sponsored work visas in the past. Energy companies operating in the Bakken region occasionally sponsor administrative roles tied to operational support functions.
Which visa types are most common for administrative assistant roles in North Dakota?
The H-1B visa is rarely used for administrative assistant roles because most positions do not meet the specialty occupation requirement of a specific bachelor's degree in a directly related field. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, though administrative assistants face similar classification challenges. Some candidates qualify through employer-sponsored immigrant visa petitions when they have specialized skills in healthcare administration or a related technical field.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most administrative assistant sponsorship jobs?
Fargo is North Dakota's largest city and generates the highest concentration of administrative assistant openings, supported by Sanford Health's regional headquarters, financial services firms, and a growing technology sector. Bismarck, the state capital, offers steady demand through government agencies and healthcare employers. Grand Forks benefits from the University of North Dakota's administrative staffing needs, making it the third most active city for these roles.
How to find administrative assistant visa sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find administrative assistant roles in North Dakota where employers are open to visa sponsorship. The platform filters specifically for sponsorship-willing employers, saving you from sorting through listings that never address immigration support. Focus your search on healthcare systems, universities, and state agencies in Fargo and Bismarck, as these sectors have the most consistent administrative hiring across the state.
Are there any state-specific considerations for administrative assistants pursuing visa sponsorship in North Dakota?
North Dakota's Department of Labor sets prevailing wage requirements that employers must meet when sponsoring foreign workers, so administrative assistant roles tied to formal visa petitions will generally offer wages benchmarked to those standards. The state's healthcare and higher education sectors tend to have more structured HR processes for sponsorship than smaller private employers. Administrative professionals with specialized experience in healthcare records, compliance, or bilingual support may find more sponsorship interest than generalist applicants.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored administrative assistant jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
