Which cybersecurity companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Ohio?
Ohio employers with documented OPT sponsorship patterns in cybersecurity include Nationwide Insurance, KeyBank, JPMorgan Chase's Columbus operations, Booz Allen Hamilton, and Leidos, both of which support federal contracts near Dayton. Ohio State University's research affiliates and regional managed security service providers also appear in DOL disclosure data as active OPT sponsors for cybersecurity roles.
Which cities in Ohio have the most cybersecurity F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for cybersecurity OPT sponsorship, driven by its concentration of financial services headquarters, insurance firms, and a large tech sector. Cleveland follows with activity in banking and healthcare cybersecurity. Dayton is notable for defense and government contractor roles near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Cincinnati adds financial services and healthcare security positions to the state's overall sponsorship volume.
What types of cybersecurity roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles that align well with F-1 OPT in cybersecurity include security analyst, penetration tester, network security engineer, cloud security engineer, threat intelligence analyst, and identity and access management specialist. These positions typically require a directly related degree in computer science, information security, or a related STEM field. STEM OPT extension eligibility depends on both the role's SOC code and the employer's E-Verify enrollment.
How do I find cybersecurity F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters cybersecurity job listings specifically for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Ohio, using DOL Labor Condition Application data to identify employers with verified sponsorship history. This lets you focus on Ohio-based cybersecurity roles where companies have already demonstrated willingness to work with OPT candidates, rather than filtering hundreds of unverified postings manually.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 OPT cybersecurity jobs in Ohio?
Ohio's significant federal contractor presence, particularly around Dayton and Columbus, means some cybersecurity roles require U.S. citizenship or a security clearance, which F-1 OPT holders are generally not eligible for. Candidates should verify clearance requirements before applying. Ohio's large financial services and healthcare sectors, however, offer substantial OPT-eligible cybersecurity hiring outside the federal contracting space.
