Search Insurance Jobs in OhioInsurance OPT Sponsorship Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
Which insurance companies in Ohio are known to sponsor F-1 OPT visas?
Nationwide and Progressive, both headquartered in Ohio, have established international hiring programs and have sponsored F-1 OPT workers in actuarial, data analytics, and underwriting roles. Employers like Erie Indemnity's Ohio offices and regional carriers in Columbus and Cleveland also hire OPT candidates, particularly for roles requiring quantitative or technology skills where the talent pool is competitive.
Which Ohio cities have the most insurance F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is the strongest market, anchored by Nationwide's headquarters and a dense cluster of insurance technology and financial services employers. Cleveland follows, with several regional carriers and brokerage firms operating there. Cincinnati rounds out the top three, with Fifth Third Insurance and other Midwest-based insurers maintaining offices. Dublin and Westerville, suburbs of Columbus, also house significant insurance employer campuses worth targeting.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles requiring specialized degrees tend to attract OPT sponsorship most consistently. Actuarial analyst positions for students with mathematics or statistics degrees, data science and predictive modeling roles, underwriting analyst positions, and software engineering roles within insurtech divisions are common fits. Claims analyst and risk management roles tied to a finance or business analytics degree also qualify regularly, particularly at larger carriers with structured graduate hiring programs.
How do I find insurance F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type, so you can search for F-1 OPT-eligible insurance roles in Ohio without manually screening hundreds of postings. The platform surfaces employers who have actively sponsored OPT candidates in the insurance sector, including companies in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. This saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering sponsorship availability only late in the process.
Are there any Ohio-specific or insurance-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship I should know about?
Ohio's insurance industry is heavily regulated through the Ohio Department of Insurance, and employers hiring for licensed roles such as claims adjusting or brokerage may require state licensing alongside OPT authorization. For STEM OPT extension purposes, roles in actuarial science, data analytics, and software development within insurance firms often qualify under eligible CIP codes, but your degree and job duties both need to meet USCIS criteria. Confirm STEM eligibility with your Designated School Official before accepting an offer.
