Which airlines companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Ohio?
Regional and national carriers with Ohio operations, including those serving Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, and John Glenn Columbus International Airport, have historically filed Labor Condition Applications supporting OPT workers. Ground handling companies, cargo operators, and airline support service firms also appear in DOL disclosure data as active sponsors. Reviewing OFLC filing records by employer and location helps identify which specific companies have a documented sponsorship history in aviation roles.
Which cities in Ohio have the most airlines F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati are Ohio's primary aviation employment centers. Cleveland Hopkins and John Glenn Columbus International handle substantial passenger and cargo volume, supporting roles in operations, customer service, and logistics. Dayton, home to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Dayton International Airport, also generates aviation-sector hiring. Smaller regional airports across the state contribute additional opportunities, particularly in ground operations and support functions tied to regional carrier networks.
What types of airlines roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles commonly aligned with OPT authorization in the airlines sector include aviation operations analysts, logistics coordinators, data analysts supporting scheduling or revenue management, airport operations coordinators, and IT or systems support specialists. Technical and engineering positions tied to aircraft maintenance planning or fleet data analysis can also qualify. The role must fall within your authorized field of study, and your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify for STEM OPT extensions to apply.
How do I find airlines F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate lets you filter airlines jobs in Ohio by visa type, including F-1 OPT, and displays employer-level DOL Labor Condition Application filing history so you can see which Ohio aviation employers have an active sponsorship record. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that may not be OPT-compatible. Searching by city, such as Columbus or Cleveland, within Migrate Mate's filters narrows results to verified Ohio aviation employers with documented sponsorship activity.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Ohio's airlines sector?
Ohio does not impose additional state-level visa requirements beyond federal OPT rules, but airlines employers in the state must comply with Transportation Security Administration background check requirements, which can affect onboarding timelines for international students. For STEM OPT extensions, your employer must be E-Verify enrolled, and your role must directly relate to your STEM degree field. Aviation operations roles with irregular shift schedules should also be reviewed against your OPT employer reporting obligations to confirm compliance.
