Which agriculture companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Ohio?
Ohio-based agribusiness employers with a track record of hiring international students on OPT include The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company in Marysville, Corteva Agriscience, and Bunge North America, which has grain operations in the state. Ohio State University's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences also hires OPT students in research and extension roles. Sponsorship is never guaranteed and varies by role, team, and hiring cycle.
Which cities in Ohio have the most agriculture F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is the primary hub, driven by Ohio State University's agricultural research infrastructure and corporate agribusiness offices nearby. Wooster hosts the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, making it a strong location for OPT students in plant science and soil research. Marysville, Findlay, and Toledo also see activity from commodity trading, seed, and crop protection companies with regional operations.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles that align with a STEM-designated degree program are eligible for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, which is particularly relevant in Ohio's agriculture sector. Qualifying positions commonly include agricultural data analyst, precision agriculture specialist, plant scientist, food safety engineer, and agronomist. Field-only manual labor roles generally do not qualify. The position must be directly related to your degree program and must be paid employment, not volunteer work.
How do I find agriculture F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters agriculture F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio by employer, role type, and visa compatibility. Rather than sorting through general job boards that don't surface visa status clearly, Migrate Mate focuses listings on employers actively open to OPT candidates. Search by Ohio location and the agriculture category to find roles matching your degree field and OPT authorization period.
Are there any state-specific considerations for F-1 OPT in Ohio's agriculture industry?
Ohio's agriculture sector spans crop production, food processing, agritech, and university research, meaning OPT eligibility varies significantly by employer type. Public universities like Ohio State are familiar with OPT paperwork and often have international student offices that coordinate with hiring managers. Private agribusiness employers vary widely in their experience with OPT compliance. Students pursuing the 24-month STEM OPT extension must ensure their employer signs the Form I-983 training plan, which documents the formal learning objectives of the role.
