Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2A visas in Ohio?
Ohio H-2A sponsors include fruit orchards in Wayne, Holmes, and Licking counties, vegetable growers in the Maumee Valley near Toledo, and greenhouse operations in central Ohio. Nursery and sod producers in the Columbus metro and berry farms in the northeastern part of the state also file H-2A Labor Condition Applications regularly through the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification each planting and harvest season.
Which cities in Ohio have the most agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs?
H-2A agriculture activity in Ohio is concentrated in rural areas rather than major cities. The most active hiring regions include Wayne and Holmes counties in northeast Ohio for orchard and produce work, the Toledo-area Maumee Valley for vegetable and field crop operations, and the Columbus metro fringe for greenhouse and nursery employers. Smaller towns like Wooster, Findlay, and Mount Vernon are common worksites named on Ohio H-2A job orders.
How do I find agriculture H-2A sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate lists verified H-2A agriculture jobs in Ohio filtered by employer filing history, so you can see which Ohio growers and nurseries have active or recent Labor Condition Applications. Search by Ohio and filter for H-2A under agriculture to surface seasonal crop, greenhouse, and livestock roles. Checking Migrate Mate early in the year is useful because Ohio H-2A employers typically file LCAs in late winter ahead of spring planting and summer harvest seasons.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2A sponsorship in Ohio?
H-2A covers temporary or seasonal agricultural labor, and Ohio employers most commonly sponsor roles such as crop workers, fruit and vegetable harvesters, nursery and greenhouse workers, sod farm laborers, and general farmhands. Livestock feeding and dairy support roles can qualify where the work is tied to seasonal production cycles. USCIS and DOL require that the work is temporary or seasonal in nature, and Ohio's climate-driven growing season generally satisfies that requirement for field and orchard positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-2A agriculture jobs in Ohio?
Ohio does not impose state-level H-2A filing requirements beyond federal DOL and USCIS rules, but employers must still comply with Ohio's workers' compensation laws and provide housing that meets federal H-2A standards. Ohio's growing season typically runs April through October, so most job orders begin in late winter. Workers should confirm that employer-provided housing and transportation meet the terms listed in the job order, as Ohio H-2A complaints have historically involved housing condition disputes.
