Which companies in Ohio sponsor visas for program specialists?
Major Ohio employers known to file H-1B petitions for program specialist roles include Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, Nationwide Children's Hospital, The Ohio State University, and federal contractors based in Columbus such as Battelle and Leidos. State agencies and large nonprofit organizations also sponsor program specialists, particularly for roles tied to federally funded programs in public health and workforce development.
Which visa types are most common for program specialist roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program specialists in Ohio, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a related bachelor's degree or higher. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible categories. Some university-affiliated program specialists enter on J-1 exchange visitor visas. O-1 is an option for individuals with demonstrated extraordinary achievement in their field.
Which Ohio cities have the most program specialist visa sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads due to its concentration of state government offices, federal agencies, and large healthcare systems. Cleveland follows closely, driven by its major hospital networks and Case Western Reserve University. Cincinnati offers opportunities through UC Health, the University of Cincinnati, and several large nonprofits. Dayton has demand tied to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base contractors and regional health programs.
How to find program specialist visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters program specialist job postings specifically to employers in Ohio that offer visa sponsorship, saving you the time of sorting through roles that won't support an international hire. You can search by city, filter by visa type, and review sponsorship history for specific Ohio employers. For program specialist roles, focus on healthcare networks, universities, and government contractors where sponsorship is most common.
Are there any Ohio-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for program specialists?
Ohio's strong presence of federally funded programs, particularly in public health and workforce development, means many program specialist roles are tied to grant cycles, which can affect hiring timelines and the duration of sponsorship. Employers at public universities and state agencies must meet prevailing wage requirements set by the Department of Labor for the specific Ohio metro area where the role is located, which varies between Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program specialist jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
