The Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator will be responsible for managing the company's purchasing and inventory activities, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained and orders are placed in a timely and cost-effective manner. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the parts purchasing process for heavy equipment, trucks, yard supplies, and tools by identifying the most cost-effective suppliers, negotiating prices, and placing orders for raw materials, finished goods, and supplies.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure that the facility receives the best possible service.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels by reviewing daily and weekly inventory reports and coordinating with relevant departments to ensure that stock levels are maintained at optimal levels.
- Review and analyze inventory levels to identify slow-moving items and potential stock shortages, and take appropriate action to ensure that stock levels are maintained to meet production demand.
- Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient to meet needs, and order additional parts and supplies as needed.
- Communicate lead times and/or ETA for all ordered parts.
- Check back-ordered parts weekly and communicate ETA when necessary.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders.
- Coordinate with the accounting department for payment of orders.
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
- Check shipments upon arrival to ensure that orders have been filled correctly and that the goods meet specifications.
- Process receipt of goods in the inventory management software.
- Process work orders in the maintenance system.
- Enter daily inspections into the system.
- Create and maintain an organized and labeled inventory system.
