Which medical devices companies sponsor visas in Pennsylvania?
Major medical devices companies in Pennsylvania that commonly sponsor visas include Johnson & Johnson (with substantial operations in the Philadelphia area), Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and Stryker. Smaller innovative companies in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh biotech corridors also sponsor international talent, particularly for specialized engineering and regulatory roles. Many of these companies regularly file H-1B and other visa petitions for qualified candidates.
How to find medical devices visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for medical devices roles in Pennsylvania that offer visa sponsorship. The platform filters positions by companies with a proven track record of sponsoring international workers in medical devices. Focus your search on the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metropolitan areas, where most major medical devices companies are concentrated, and target roles in engineering, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs.
Which visa types are most common for medical devices roles in Pennsylvania?
H-1B visas are most common for medical devices positions in Pennsylvania, particularly for biomedical engineers, quality engineers, and regulatory affairs specialists. O-1 visas are sometimes used for senior researchers or those with exceptional expertise in medical device development. TN visas work well for Canadian and Mexican engineers, while E-3 visas serve Australian professionals in qualifying specialty occupations within the industry.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most medical devices sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia leads Pennsylvania in medical devices visa sponsorship opportunities, hosting major operations for Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, and numerous smaller biotech companies. Pittsburgh follows with its strong healthcare and engineering base, including companies like Stryker. The broader southeastern Pennsylvania region, including suburbs like King of Prussia and Malvern, also concentrates significant medical devices employers who sponsor international talent.
Are there university partnerships that help with medical devices jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, Pennsylvania's universities create strong pipelines for international students into medical devices careers. University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon, and Drexel University have active industry partnerships and career services that connect international graduates with sponsoring employers. Many companies recruit directly from these programs, particularly for engineering and research positions, making the transition from student status to sponsored employment more streamlined.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical devices jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
