Are you a skilled Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) professional who thrives at transforming complex utility data into clear, actionable insights? Do you enjoy collaborating with field teams, interpreting real-world conditions, and producing detailed, high-quality mapping that supports impactful infrastructure projects? CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior SUE Analyst to join our Survey Geospatial Team in Norwell, MA; Hartford, CT; or Providence, RI, where you’ll play a pivotal role in gathering, analyzing, and presenting subsurface utility data that drives safe, smart, and successful project outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity for a technical expert who values precision, collaboration, and elevating the work of both field and office teams.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a technical expert in SUE field data collection, equipment, and CHA safety and operational procedures
- Oversee CAD production on SUE deliverables by compiling field data and developing accurate mapping and reports
- Perform record research, calculations, and verification of sketches, computations, and utility information
- Coordinate closely with project managers to meet client-specific requirements in both field and office settings
- Implement quality control guidelines to ensure consistency and accuracy across deliverables
- Monitor field crew production and provide QA to ensure alignment with plans and specifications
- Train field staff and guide junior analysts on SUE best practices, standards, and operational procedures
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What You Bring
- High school diploma required; Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering or related discipline preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience required
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with ability to travel short-term required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD design software required; experience with MicroStation, InRoads, and OpenRoads preferred
- Strong understanding of utility locating, utility design, and survey mapping
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical information professionally to clients and the public
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work seamlessly across field and office teams
- PE or PLS certification preferred
