Which companies sponsor visas for executive assistants in South Carolina?
Large multinationals and major institutions with South Carolina operations are the most likely sponsors. Companies like Boeing in North Charleston, Michelin in Greenville, and major healthcare systems like Prisma Health in Columbia have sponsored professional and administrative roles. Financial services firms and government contractors in the Columbia metro also appear in sponsorship records, though visa sponsorship for executive assistant roles is less common than for technical positions and is evaluated case by case.
Which visa types are most common for executive assistant roles in South Carolina?
The H-1B visa is the most frequently used visa for executive assistants, though USCIS requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a specific bachelor's degree in a related field must typically be required. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role fits an eligible category. The O-1 visa is rarely applicable. Candidates already holding work authorization through OPT or a dependent EAD have a stronger footing since they don't require new employer-sponsored petitions.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most executive assistant sponsorship jobs?
Columbia has the highest concentration of executive assistant opportunities, driven by state government agencies, university systems like the University of South Carolina, and large hospital networks. Charleston follows closely, anchored by Boeing, a growing tech sector, and port-related industries. Greenville rounds out the top three, with its manufacturing and international business base, particularly European companies like BMW and Michelin, which have experience sponsoring international employees.
How to find executive assistant visa sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship roles and filters executive assistant positions by state, including South Carolina. Rather than sorting through postings that don't address sponsorship at all, Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified sponsorship history. For executive assistant roles in Columbia, Charleston, or Greenville, searching Migrate Mate by role and state gives you a targeted starting point without wading through irrelevant listings.
Are there state-specific considerations for executive assistants seeking visa sponsorship in South Carolina?
South Carolina's economy is anchored by manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics rather than the tech hubs that drive high H-1B volume in states like California or Texas. This means sponsorship opportunities for executive assistants exist but are less concentrated. Employers with international parent companies, such as European manufacturers in the Upstate region, tend to be more familiar with the sponsorship process. Candidates with experience supporting C-suite or senior leadership in regulated industries tend to see stronger interest from these employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored executive assistant jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
